The types of audits may include internal or external systems audits, process audits or product/service audits. The process includes reviewing designated documentation; identifying and developing checklists and audit related documentation; preparing audit plans and evaluating information; and reporting findings to the lead auditor.

Background - What is audit quality?

Audit quality refers to matters that contribute to the likelihood of an auditor achieving the primary objective of obtaining reasonable assurance that the financial report as a whole is free of material misstatements. It also ensures material deficiencies identified are addressed or communicated through the audit report.

This comprises of appropriately enforcing important accounting estimations and treatments that can materially affect the reported financial position and results.

The quality of financial report is a necessary component of effective and informed capital markets and investors. The goal of an independent audit is to help investors have peace of mind about the robustness of financial reports. The reason why it is important to improve consistency of accounting audit execution and promote excellent internal audits is that solid financial information gives confidence to investors.

Internal audits must be performed by professional and experienced auditors to foster in producing high-quality audits and strict professional skepticism. The auditors should have the appropriate experience and resources to efficiently perform thorough internal supervision and reviews. Strong accountability mechanisms must be implemented to identify audit risks and issues and address them in time. The auditors are encouraged to proactively respond to any risks or issues.

What will you learn by completing the training course?

This course will include an understanding of awareness of the relevant legislation and your responsibilities in participating in quality audits.

1. Review previous audits to establish possible impact on the conduct of current audit
2. Request, review and check adequacy of relevant documents from auditee
3. Determine source and amend reviewed documents
4. Resolve issues that rises over the course of reviewing
5. Prepare and access relevant checklists/tools and documents
6. Confirm required resources with auditees before beginning new auditing activities
7. Anticipate future issues and outline strategies beforehand to address issues
8. Ensuring prepared audit is in correspondence with company audit plan
9. Determination of appropriate auditing techniques and methods
10. Assist lead auditor in create entry and exit strategies
11. Information evaluation against prescribed benchmarks
12. Ensuring opinions are formed and supported by auditing team
13. Examine end results against findings 
14. Report audit recommendations for audit improvement
15. Ensuring audit context and consequences are explained and follow up is maintained

What Accreditation Will You Get?

After completing the Participate in quality audits course, an assessment is conducted to determine if you have understood the information presented during the training course. If you pass this assessment, you receive a Certificate of Completion.

IMPORTANT NOTE whilst this course is based on the learning outcomes of the course provided, it is important to note that it is not a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment unless you opt for that option. Nationally Recognised training is only really required If you specifically require that unit of competency for a qualification or licence (typically this will require a practical component, further assessment and increased costs).

For example, ‘employer’ has been used to signify the broader term ‘PCBU’, while ‘WHS’ represents both work and occupational health and safety.

A Certificate of Completion is issued on successful completion of the course and you are required to get an 80% pass mark to be deemed as understanding the content. It is recommended that training is conducted every 2 years to stay refreshed.
